photo from week 243 - Ansco Readyflash

dark horse
The cross-processed look seems to suit the retro subject in this photo.

The flash attachment is purely for effect, I haven't got the requisite obsolete battery to fire a flash bulb even if I wanted to.

Hardwick Hall
The green colour cast here is the result of cross-processing slide film in negative chemistry. I quite like the effect, which is just as well as I have a dozen or so rolls of this expired film!

Week 243 - Ansco Readyflash

Ansco Readyflash

Ansco Readyflash

A cheap and cheerful eye-level box camera that came in a little attache case holding the camera and its dedicated flashgun, and a supply of flash bulbs.
It uses 620 film, so I had to re-roll some 120 film onto a 620 spool.

Promenade
The panoramic format is ideal for the sculpture by Anthony Caro at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

No problems using this camera in reasonable indoor lighting, if necessary the shutter speed goes down to 2 seconds, though obviously that wouldn't be hand-holdable.

Horse Chestnut
I decided to use a redscale film in the Pentax, Agfa Vista ISO400 from Poundland loaded into an ISO100 DX coded cassette.
This photo uses the faux panoramic mask and the maximum focal length.

Week 242 - Pentax Espio 90MC

Pentax Espio 90MC
This neat little point and shoot came from Oxfam for 99p. It has a somewhat more manageable maximum focal length of 90mm, compared to it's sibling, the Espio 160 that I used in week 141. I've loaded it with homemade redscale Agfa Vista 400 from Poundland.

Horse Chestnut
An old favourite subject, on ideal lighting conditions for an old box camera.

Another dead-pan self-portrait due to having to keep still for an exposure of around 6 seconds. There is no tripod bush, so I had to be extra careful not to move the camera while operating the shutter.

Abbey Lane Angel
This is the only frame for which I used the green filter, I can't really see any difference form a similar shot taken without it. The difficulty in using the viewfinder is demonstrated here, with the subject being towards the edge of the frame.

Week 241 - Conway Colour-Filter Model

Conway Colour-Filter Model
This is a basic box camera with the addition of a greenish filter which is engaged by means of a sliding tab. There is a focusing lever, marked "near" and "distant", but no indication of what the near distance is. The waist level finders are small and difficult to see, partly because there is some fungus or corrosion in them.
It uses 120 film, so I loaded it with some Fuji Acros ISO100 black and white film.

photo from week 240 - Kodak Instamatic 25

Ascott Circle
This is probably the "least bad" of a bad lot, again it was very bright sunshine, but the negative is pitifully underexposed.

Ascott House
This is the same film from last week, so the results are predictably pretty awful. This was taken in very bright sunlight, but the aged film only just managed to yield an image.

Week 240 - Kodak Instamatic 25

Kodak Instamatic 25
With 126 film being so scarce (and so old), I decided to swap the cartridge from last weeks's Instamatic 400 into this week's Instamatic 25. This is a very simple model, but it does have 2 settings for sunny and cloudy. As far as I can work out this adjusts the shutter speed, as there doesn't seem to be any difference in the aperture between the two settings.

photo from week 239 - Kodak Instamatic 400

The Freak
This is probably the best of a bad lot, which isn't saying much! The camera can't be blamed, the problem is the very old film, but as 126 is now discontinued, the only film available is increasingly decrepit.

Town Hall Clock
The results from the very old film were disappointing but hardly surprising. The film actaully looks to be blank, but there are very faint shadows on it, and after scanning and heavyweight "correction", the images can be made out.
